AAP Leader Claims Delhi Has Lowest Inflation Rate Due to Kejriwal’s Welfare Schemes

AAP leader Raghav Chadha on Wednesday claimed that Delhi has the lowest inflation rate among all states in India, thanks to the welfare schemes implemented by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Chadha cited the figures of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures inflation, for August 2023. The CPI for Delhi stood at 6.46%, while the national average was 6.83%.

“This is because Chief Minister Kejriwal has given a welfare model that benefits the people of Delhi. I would call it the Arvind Kejriwal Mehengai Rahat Model,” Chadha said.

The Mehengai Rahat Model includes schemes such as free education, free healthcare, and free water. Chadha said that these schemes have helped to keep the cost of living low in Delhi.

He also dismissed the BJP’s criticism of the welfare schemes, saying that they are not “revdi” (freebies) but rather “prepaid services”. He said that people pay taxes for these services, and that Kejriwal is simply giving them their money back.

Chadha’s claims were echoed by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who said that the AAP government is committed to providing relief to the people of Delhi from inflation.

“We will continue to implement welfare schemes that benefit the people,” Sisodia said.

The AAP’s claims about the lowest inflation rate in Delhi have been disputed by some economists, who say that the data is not reliable. However, the party has dismissed these criticisms, saying that the data is accurate.

The debate over the inflation rate in Delhi is likely to continue, but there is no doubt that the AAP government is popular among the people of the city. The party won a landslide victory in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, and is widely seen as the frontrunner in the next elections, which are due in 2025
